Temperance: Everything Depends on the Right Action of Our Willpower

Make 2012 the year you take responsibility for learning about God’s laws governing the health and wellness of you and your family. Instead of relying on expensive healthcare, learn what the Bible, Spirit of Prophecy, latest medical, and natural approaches have to say about health.

During this seminar, you, along with local experts and health professionals will participate in lectures, panel discussions, question and answer periods, and group activities. Each session is designed to equip you with information you can use to help your family live healthier as well as win others to Christ through the gospel of health reform.

Musicians will perform between 2:30 and 3:00 pm. Lectures will begin at 3:00 pm, followed by questions and answers. Childcare is available.

Todays seminar will explore techniques anyone can use to make better decisions about the food we eat, how we spend our money, how much time to watch TV, etc. Speakers include Christine Gillan Byrne, EdD, specialist in early childhood education. Dr. Byrne is the Director of Early Childhood Education for the General Conference and her personal ministry is through, Young Child Ministries. She assists families with young children in understanding the Biblical principles of child rearing and child guidance. She will speak on teaching temperance to children and raising them to obey and respect their parents. Crystal Whitten, PhD, will speak on nutritional determinants of various neurotransmitters and their relationship to frontal lobe function. Frontal lobes, located in the forehead region of the brain, are the executive director of the brain and the seat of humanity. Good frontal lobe function is essential for true spirituality and connection to God. She will cover determinants of optimal frontal lobe function and the what causes frontal lobe function to decline, including: TV, music, staying up late, going against ones personal belief or conscious, poor diet, lack of meaningful relationships, etc. Poor frontal lobe function is associated with depression, post partum depression, precursor to chronic disease, poor memory, and violence.
