Derrick holds a B.Sc., in nutrition and also received his lifestyle intervention training at the Lifestyle Medicine Institute, Loma Linda, CA and is a certified and licensed CHIP Corporate Health Facilitator. His education encompasses a vast array of coursework, which includes, basic nutrition, permanent weight loss, anti-aging and disease prevention.

He has been in the wellness field educating, facilitating and training groups from a few to over 1,500. In addition to providing individual and group education and counseling, he is also a certified trainer, personal fitness chief, diabetes coach, lifestyle & weight management specialist, certified health counselor, nutrition consultant and water fitness instructor. He believes that a proper nutrition coupled with exercise can prevent a variety of today’s medical problems.

N. David Emerson, MD, is a board certified internist currently serving as medical director at Eden Valley Lifestyle Center, Loveland, CO. He did his residency at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, OH. Following that he served eight years at a Seventh-day Adventist medical clinic in Guam where he helped develop an outpatient NEWSTART program for the local residents. He then worked in private practice for eight years in Ardmore, OK where he again implemented an outpatient NEWSTART program. He has also given talks on 3ABN, a satellite broadcasting network with world-wide coverage, for a series entitled “Wonderfully Made”.

Daniel Binus, MD, Clinical Director of Beautiful Minds Medical, graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2006, and completed his residency in psychiatry at Loma Linda University. Dr. Binus previously worked as Medical Director of Lutheran Social Services in Big Bear Lake, California. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, JR., MD, was a researcher and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic for more than thirty-five years. In 1991, he served as the president of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and organized the first National Conference on the Elimination of Heart Disease. In 2005, he became the first recipient of the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine. Dr. Esselstyn and his wife, Ann Crile Esselstyn, have followed a plant-based diet for more than twenty years. They work together to counsel patients in Cleveland and at the farm in upstate New York where Dr. Esselstyn grew up.
