Q.

Is there any new information that can help people with Alzheimer's besides Neumenda and Ariceipt?

A.

People who exercise, participate in intellectually stimulating activities, and remain active in social networks appear to be at lower risk for Alzheimer’s, and those affected may slow its progression through these activities. Our Medical Director particularly encourages such individuals to memorize a Bible text each day, which probably improves short term memory. It is also helpful to get onto a plant-based diet which would eliminate cholesterol and reduce saturated fat intake, which has been associated with this disease. Neumenda and Aricept continue to be the main medications used to slow disease progression.
