Coronary Artery Disease

Q. I have some mild plaque in my carotid arteries. Is it allright to use nuts and seeds for heart health?

It is a wise choice to stop the use of coconut milk and yogurt. I would encourage you to consider eliminating the olive oil altogether and recheck your carotid health in a year for a comparison study. Coronary artery disease can be arrested and reversed on a diet which entirely eliminates refined and unrefined fat sources (See this study).

If you are keeping your total nut and/or seed intake to 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) per day, this would be in harmony with the literature available. I would be eager to see your carotid results one year later after these changes.

Yes, I have some oil free recipes.
I have been using Nayonaise for sandwiches.  Can you recommend something that is lower in fat?  For salad dressing I use lemon juice & a dab
    of sweetener.  Any suggestions would
    be great.

    Thank you

Vegenaise has a low-fat variety you might try. We like mashing an avocado with a little lemon or lime for an easy salad dressing.

God bless your efforts to enjoy good health.

Guacomole with lemon or lime with a little onion and/or garlic powder makes a wonderful salad dressing.
