Take this recipe and run with it! Add your signature herb mix, roasted garlic, dried fruit, or whatever else it takes to make it your own--we won't tell.
- Cover potatoes with water and cook for about 1⁄2 hour or until very soft.
Remove from heat and drain off water.
- Mash with a potato masher or use an electric mixer.
Add milk and salt to taste, adding as much milk as needed for the consistency you like.
Hint #2: It's important to mash the potatoes immediately after removing from the heat, or they'll become starchy and gummy when mashed.
Ready in about: 45 minutes to an hour (depending on the time it takes prepare and boil the potatoes)
